These terrible fires have been tragic for our district with huge loss of life and terrible loss of buildings and infrastructure.
The Murrindindi Shire has been particularly badly affected with in excess of 1100 homes burnt.
UGFM also lost transmission equipment near Marysville and at Flowerdale.
Fortunately, we were able to make temporary measures to get the transmitters in these areas working again fairly quickly so that emergency information could be, and continues to be, broadcast.
Thanks to those that assisted with this emergency work.
UGFM has received much appreciation for the coverage during the fire emergency and plans on contiunuing this vital service during the recovery period. Many presenters worked very long shifts day and night during the emergency period.
